What is design? Design is defined as a plan or drawing produced to show the look and function or workings of a building, garment, or other object before it is built or made.

Design as i think about it is a way to format or to consciously think about where to put something. Like an architect with his blueprints, an artist uses their design to guide them in their works.

Artists have a rough idea or sketch. Then they refine the sketch until there is a final blueprint that will work for them. The sketch will go through many changes or alterations before reaching that point of refinement. And sometimes it will never reach that point because there will always be room for improvement. Design is there to help the artist reach their goal of creating a piece of art, big or small.
