What is art

   What is art? Art is defined as the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.

   Art to me is the creation or destruction and refinement of an idea. Art, to me, is when an idea or thought is made into something physical and is visually pleasing to look at. Some artwork varies from realism to abstraction. It can be symbolic or representational. It can be beautiful and it can be ugly. It all depends on perception.

   Art also varies from artists. Not one artist is the same. They all have very unique talents,thought processes, and techniques that make them different from each other. The mediums that each artist utilise can be the same, since the material to do the art is limited, but the way that they go about making their art is vastly different. A Matise will be different from a Kalho. A classical renaissance painting will be different from a comic book cover.

   Even people have an opinion as to what should be considered art. Art is art if it has a purpose. Art is art because it can express an idea. Art is art for the sake of being art. Art is art because it keep records of things. Art is art because it has an emotional meaning behind it. Art is art because it has mystery.art is art because it can be beautiful.

   Art means something to some people. For some it means nothing. For some it is a passion, a way of life, a means to do what you love, a way to communicate, and ect. Art can hold meaning and not hold any meaning. But to me art is an expression of some type.
